An employment announcement has been released by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) for the position of assistant auditor and accountant. The Subordinate Services Selection Board was first established by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh through an Ordinance in 1988. This was later replaced by Act No. 7 of 1988, which allowed for direct recruitment to all group “C” posts that the State Government may designate by notification.

The Board was also permitted to take into account any authority, government-owned company, or corporation that requested such a recruitment for positions under its jurisdiction. The Board operated as a distinct business entity from the Government.

The aforementioned Board was subsequently dissolved on May 31, 1990, and changed into a Commission with a chairman and a maximum of five members. In addition, the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (Amendment) Act, 1993 was enacted in order to specify and modify the terms of service for the Commission’s chairman and members. This amendment changed the commission’s status to that of a government department.

The aforementioned statute was repealed on December 28, 1997, by an ordinance, and statute N0.5 of 1998 later took its place. Under U.P. Act No. 1 of 2006, the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission was re-established. However, U.P. Ordinance No. 6 of 2007 and Act No. 21 of 2007 later revoked this Act.

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection commission Act, 2014, which went into effect on June 20, 2014, re-established the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission after it became apparent that it was having difficulty filling Group “C” positions in the State’s administrative departments due to increased workload. The current Commission was reconstituted after the then-Chairman and five of its members resigned on April 6, 2017, and the existing Chairman and members joined the Commission in the second half of January 2018.
