Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, originally known as Willingdon Hospital, was founded by the British for their employees and had just 54 beds. Following independence, its jurisdiction was transferred to the New Delhi Municipal Committee.
In 1954, its jurisdiction was returned to the Central Government of Independent India.
The hospital has evolved throughout the years and now has over 1532 beds scattered across 30 acres of land. It serves the population of New Delhi and the Central District, as well as patients from neighbouring locations and even outside of Delhi. There are 94 beds in a nursing home for C.G.H.S beneficiaries, including a maternity nursing home.
It is totally financed by the Indian government (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare). No emergency patients are refused care at this hospital.
This hospital has a non-invasive Cardiac Lab and a Cardiac Cath Lab, which can do TMT, Echo-Cardiography, Coronary Angiography, and Pace Maker installation. The hospital has facilities for cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, as well as neurosurgery.
This hospital provides round-the-clock emergency care in Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, and paediatrics. Other specialty’ facilities are also accessible on-call. All supported services, such as laboratories, X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, blood banks, and ambulances, are available 24/7. The hospital has a Coronary Care Unit and an Intensive Care Unit for critical cardiac and non-cardiac patients, respectively. In a year, the hospital serves over 18 lakh patients as OPD cases, admits approximately 67000 patients inside, and attends approximately 2.75 lakh patients in the emergency department. Approximately 10,000 yellow fever vaccinations and 915 delivery cases. Similarly, roughly 5,000 CT scans, 1.70 lakh X-ray cases, 28 lakh laboratory tests, and approximately 17,000 ultrasounds are performed. The hospital performs around 11,000 major and 49,000 minor procedures each year.
The hospital features two incinerators, one microwave machine, and two plastic shredders for a proper hospital waste disposal system.
The hospital administration has grown and expanded in tandem with the hospital’s medical facilities, reaching 3164. Administrative work has grown in tandem with the establishment’s development. The sanctioned strength of Central Health Services and Non-CHS, Group A and Group B, Gazetted and Non-Gazetted, Ministerial Staff, Nursing Staff, Paramedical Staff, and Group D staff with pre-revised updated scales is provided in Annexure.
Educational Qualifications for RMLH JR Recruitment 2024
- MBBS from a recognized University.
- Only those candidates who have completed / likely to complete Internship on or before last date of submission of application may apply subject to submission of DMC registration certificate or Acknowledgement required for appearing in Examination. Permanent Registration certificate of DMC will be mandatory at the time of joining, if selected.
- The candidates who completed Internship on or before 31.05.2022 need not apply; as such candidates would not be eligible.
- Those who have already completed JR ship from any Govt. organization will not be eligible.

Candidates should note that there will be a penalty (Negative Marking – 0.25) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

- The use of any mobile phone (even in switched off mode), pager or any electronic equipment or programmable device or storage media like pen drive, smart watches, etc. or camera or blue tooth devices or any other equipment or related accessories either in working or switched off mode capable of being used as a communication device during the examination is strictly prohibited. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.
- Candidates are advised in their interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones or any valuable/costly items to the venue of the examination, as no arrangement for safe-keeping will be made at the venue of the examination. Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.
