On October 24, 1962, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) was established. The ITBP now defends the 3,488 km long India-China border, which runs from the Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh. In addition, the Force plays a significant role in several internal security activities and operations against Left Wing Extremism in the state of Chhattisgarh.

The majority of the ITBP’s Border Out Posts (BOPs) are placed at elevations ranging from 9,000 feet to 18,800 feet, where temperatures can plunge below minus 45 degrees Celsius during hard winters.

The ITBP is the nation’s specialized armed police force that educates its soldiers in a variety of sports, including climbing and skiing, in addition to extensive tactical training, resulting in a distinct image of the Force.

Educational Qualifications for ITBP Constable-Tradesman Recruitment 2024

• Constable (Barber & Safar Karamchari – Matriculation from a recognised School Or institution. Candidates will have to pass a practical departmental test in the profession.

• Constable (Gardener) – 10th Class pass from a recognised Board. Two years work experience in respective trade from a recognized institution/establishment, or One year certificate from Industrial Training Institute / Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the trade or Two years Diploma from Industrial Training Institute in the trade.
