About the Organization / Job for DCDMO Bokaro Chowkidar Recruitment 2024

Bokaro, Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Office, has issued a notification for the recruitment of Chowkidar vacancies. Candidates who are interested in the vacancy information and have met all of the eligibility conditions can read the notification and apply.

The district of Bokaro was established on April 1, 1991, by combining Chas and Chandankiyari C.D. Blocks from the Dhanbad district with the entire Bermo Subdivision from the Giridih district. Bokaro is bordered to the east by Dhanbad district and parts of West Bengal, to the west by Ramgarh district, to the south by Purulia district of West Bengal, and to the north by parts of Giridih, Hazaribag, and Dhanbad districts. The district spans between latitudes 23°26′ to 23°57′ North and longitudes 85°34′ to 86°26′ East, with an elevation ranging from 200 to 546 meters above sea level. Historical records, such as the Settlement Report for Manbhum (1928) and the District Gazetteer for Dhanbad (1964), provide some context for Bokaro’s history, although there is limited exclusive information available.

Initially, the area that now constitutes Bokaro was part of the larger district of Manbhum, which was named after Raja Man Singh, who received the territory as a gift from Emperor Akbar. The region later split into Birbhum, Manbhum, and Singhbhum. The Bokaro area was predominantly inhabited by the Kolar race and saw early Jain civilization around 600 B.C. This was followed by Brahmanical influence around the 7th century A.D., as noted by the traveler Hiuen Tsang, who mentioned a powerful kingdom ruled by Sasanka. The Brahmanical civilization thrived until the 10th century A.D., after which it was overtaken by the Bhumij and Mundari tribes. During the Mughal era, Raja Man Singh likely passed through the region on his way from Bhagalpur to Midnapur.

The British acquired the area of the old Manbhum district, including present-day Bokaro, in 1765. They brought the local petty Zamindars under control through a series of military operations, and a permanent settlement was established in 1796. In 1805, the district of Jungle Mahal was created, and later, in 1833, Manbhum was constituted with Purulia as its headquarters in 1838. Bokaro gained national significance in the early 1960s with the decision by the Indian government, in collaboration with the Soviet Union, to establish the Bokaro Steel Plant. The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1966. In the early 1990s, significant methane gas reserves were discovered in the Chandankiyari area by ONGC, with plans for a large gas plant potentially surpassing the Bokaro Steel Plant in importance.

Geographically, the district is divided into Bokaro uplands, Bokaro-Chas uplands, and the Damodar-Barakar Basin. The Bokaro-Chas uplands are the primary physical division, located in the southwestern part of the district, bordered by West Bengal to the south, the Damodar-Barakar Basin to the east, and Giridih district to the west. The region features an undulating terrain, with elevations ranging from 200 to 282 meters. The main river is the Damodar, with its tributaries Garga and Parga, and other rivers like Bokaro, Kunar, Khusa, and Uri. The Gobei River flows through Chandankiyari block, and the Konar River is found in Gomia block. The district’s geology is characterized by Chotanagpur gneiss, with soil types including Ustalfs, Aqualfs, and Ochrepts. The average annual rainfall is 1,291.2 mm, with paddy, millets, and pulses being the main crops. The district also features significant peaks such as Dhamdharwatoli (740 m), Lugu Pahar (1070 m), Chainpur (700 m), and Bhaski (793 m), primarily in its western part. The region’s landscape includes ravines and rugged topography, with much of the area composed of Chotanagpur Gneiss and smaller patches of Gondwana formations, rich in coal deposits.
